Principal's Message
God has certainly worked in His own mysterious way at John Wesley College (JWC) this year. Praise and Glory
to HIM for I know JWC progresses day by day in the providence of the Almighty.
I am extremely honoured as the Principal once again this year and to contribute to our School Website, to
focus briefly on all school activities for 2022.
Firstly, I must acknowledge the guidance and Blessings of the Almighty God that enabled the school to go
through challenges this year. I thank the Almighty for being the pillar of strength and source of wisdom in
my role at JWC. Likewise, I thank the school Chaplain, Rev. Alivereti Bulai for the spiritual advice and
guidance enabling us to carry out our roles effectively.
The Wesleyan sheds the light and takes our year’s journey of our sacrifice, commitment, dedication, hard
work, perseverance and achievements, all captured through reports and photographs. With the backing of
this year’s theme: The Year of Break Through and The best of all that God is with us and as a principal of the
school, I feel a huge sense of satisfaction and contentment as I reflect on my journey. It is indeed a
challenge to lead an institution comprising students of challenging socio-economic background and
academic abilities. To produce good results with these trying and difficult challenges is the biggest task of
any leader. Here I must acknowledge the dedicated school staff, parents and guardians who were able to
share the vision and mission of the school to make this year a successful one.
In the academic field, the school did fairly well in the year 12 and 13 examinations with more than 50%
pass rate in 2021 compared to previous years. In extra curricula activities of the school, I am pleased with
the JWC’s performance in Athletics, Rugby, Netball, Volleyball, Essay, Poster and Mathematics
Competitions.
To serve its mission, the Ministry of Education (MOE) is Education is committed to its strategic plan.
Therefore, knowing where to go and how to get there is part and parcel of the MOE’s vision, mission,
reforms and its initiatives. I would like to express my appreciation to the officers of the Ministry of
Education, the School Management Board and to the Vice Principal, Mr. Ravindra Sharma and Assistant
Principal, Mr. Mosese Tawake for their contribution in uplifting the quality of education and their support
rendered throughout the year.
We have come to the end of another exciting, eventful and blessed year. It has been indeed a joyful journey
for both the academic and non-academic facets in the school’s sphere. I take this opportunity to thank all
the hardworking HOD’s and Level Dean’s for their assistance and contributions. My Big ‘Vinaka Vakalevu’
to all the teachers for their commitment and dedication to the call of duty and in the same token, I wish to
thank the ancillary staff, Mrs. Vodo and Ms. Lesuma for their contributions towards the schools success.
To all students sitting for the external examinations, my best wishes and good luck to you. I wish the
Wesleyan family a blessed Christmas and a flourishing New Year.
